Nikitta Grender murder: Carl Whant pleads not guilty

man has pleaded not guilty to the rape and murder of pregnant Newport teenager Nikitta Grender.
Nikitta, 19, who was two weeks away from giving birth to a baby girl, was found dead in her burning flat in Liswerry in February.
Carl Whant, 26, from Newport, also denied child destruction and one count of arson at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday.
The trial date has been set for 9 January 2012 and he remains in custody.
Ms Grender was found by firefighters on 5 February in her bedroom in Broadmead Park.
Her pet dog also died in the fire.
The court heard for the first time how Whant, a nightclub bouncer, was also accused of a sex attack on Nikitta on the day she died.
