Falling masonry kills man at bar in Battersea

A man has been killed by a piece of falling masonry as he sat outside a bar in south London.
The 27-year-old man died in Battersea Rise, Battersea, at about 21:20 BST on Wednesday, police said, adding it was not connected to the recent disorder.
Eyewitnesses said the man was killed when an awning apparently collapsed at Le Bouchon Bordelais, a French restaurant and bar.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency workers.
His next of kin are yet to be informed.
Lindsay George, 21, who works at the nearby Entree Restaurant and Bar, said: "The restaurant has been cordoned off and half the awning has fallen down outside.
"There are a number of police officers around the restaurant."
Shops and restaurants on Battersea Rise were not affected by the London riots, she said.
A Met Police spokesman said: "We can confirm that the police were called at 9.20pm yesterday to Battersea Rise after a piece of masonry fell on a man."
