1928: FOOTBALL - Rangers have signed defender Dorin Goian from Palermo subject to a work permit and international clearance, the Ibrox club have confirmed.
1922: FOOTBALL - French striker Yoann Arquin completes his move to Hereford after a successful pre-season trial, reports Sky Sports.

1915: AMERICAN FOOTBALL - The National Football League (NFL) and players agree to terms to end their four-month-old lockout and ensure next season will go ahead as planned, report Reuters. The players still have to vote on the issue, once the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) reforms, but that is now just a formality after the feuding sides agreed to a multi-billion dollar, 10-year deal.
1910: CRICKET - England captain Andrew Strauss praises his bowlers after they dismiss India for 261 to hand his side a 196-run victory in the first Test at Lord's. James Anderson took 5-65 and Stuart Broad 3-57 with Chris Tremlett and Graeme Swann claiming a wicket apiece. "I thought it was going to be hard work but it was an outstanding bowling performance the way they worked as a unit," he told BBC Sport.

1843: CRICKET - India captain MS Dhoni tells BBC Sport that he is not despondent despite the tourists suffering a 196-run defeat in their opening Test against England at Lord's. He says playing with three bowlers made manoeuvring the attack a difficult task and hopes the second Test at Trent Bridge will be "more interesting".
1837: FOOTBALL - Reuters report that Manchester City defender Jerome Boateng is to join Bayern Munich on a four-year contract after the clubs reached a deal, the Bundesliga side said on Thursday.
1830: FOOTBALL - Skysports.com understands that Nigel Reo-Coker has agreed terms with Bolton ahead of a likely switch to the Reebok Stadium. The midfielder has attracted widespread interest since being released by Aston Villa earlier in the summer.
1825: CRICKET - England's captain Andrew Strauss on Sky Sports: "It was an outstanding Test match and an outstanding performance. The way the bowlers stuck at thier task today was great. 1642: FOOTBALL - Barcelona's sporting vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu is confident the club still have plenty of time to secure the signing of Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas. 1527: CYCLING - Tour de France winner Cadel Evans of Australia has climbed atop the International Cycling Union's official world rankings, having previously been fourth. Alberto Contador, who won the Giro d'Italia in May, but finished fifth in the Tour, remains in second place.
1524: CYCLING - Qatar, buoyed by a successful bid to host the 2022 football World Cup, is interested in staging the start of the 2016 Tour de France.
1517: BOXING - Amir Khan is determined to enter any showdown with Floyd Mayweather as an equal: "I'd fight anyone, I'd even fight Mayweather next. But when I fight him I want to be a big name. I don't just want to fight him as another opponent, I want to be on the same level as him. 1512: SWIMMING - Norway's Alexander Dale Oen says he used the pain experienced by his country as a result of the recent bomb and shooting attacks to fire him to victory at the World Championships in Shanghai. "I just tried to use what happened back home as fuel and tried to think we just need to push forward. We just need to let everyday life come back. We can't let this guy ruin the future for us," Dale Oen said.
1505: CYCLING/OLYMPICS - Chris Boardman believes Bradley Wiggins should prioritise the 2012 Tour de France over the London Olympic Games. "When you ride a Tour you either come out of it completely nailed or in the form of your life - and it's impossible to replicate it in training," said Boardman. "If you are going to do the double then you are risking the Olympics and saying the Tour is most important - and frankly for Bradley I think it should be at this stage of his career."
1502: FOOTBALL - Paul Lambert will explore every option to try to keep Norwich in the Premier League next season - even if that means "winning ugly".

1446: OLYMPICS - Britain's Olympics Minister Hugh Robertson says the country has already prepared for attacks by "lone wolves" on the 2012 London Games but will re-examine security plans after the attacks in Norway .
1443: BOXING - Tyson Fury has corrected quotes attributed to him in many of Monday's newspapers, announcing that he would not turn down Wladimir Klitschko if the Ukrainian wanted to fight him. "I did say I was going to win all the titles first and then move on but then again if the chance comes calling then you never know what's going to happen," Fury told talkSPORT.
1440: BMX - After consultation with the GB Cycling Team medical staff, Shanaze Reade has decided not to participate in the forthcoming BMX World Championships after aggravating a wrist injury she recently had surgery on. "It was a tough choice to make as obviously I wanted to go out there and defend my title," said Reade, "but looking at the bigger picture, preparing for the test event in August is the priority for my Olympic ambitions and I don't want to do anything to jeopardise being ready for that."

1037: GOLF - Former world number one Ian Woosnam has admitted he may retire from golf within the next two to three years. The victorious 2006 European Ryder Cup captain finished tied 16th at the Senior Open at Walton Heath, 10 shots behind champion Russ Cochran. But he has struggled with a bad back in recent years and said: "Retirement thoughts have crept in, no doubt. I am 53 now. I did say I'd do it until I'm about 55 or 56."
