Prime Minister David Cameron clashed with Labour leader Ed Miliband on the ongoing phone-hacking scandal at Prime Minister's Questions on 13 July 2011.
Mr Miliband called on the PM to take action against his chief of staff, Ed Llewellyn, after Mr Cameron said that allegations connecting former No 10 communications chief Andy Coulson with illegal activity during his tenure as News of the World editor were handed to Mr Llewellyn but not passed on to him.
The prime minister told MPs that Mr Coulson had assured him that the allegations were false, adding that Mr Coulson had provided similar assurances to the police.
If this proved to be inaccurate then he "should be prosecuted", the PM declared.
The opposition leader described it as an "insult" to murdered schoolgirl Milly Dowler's family that Rebekah Brooks was still in her job, and said it would be "quite wrong" for News Corporation's proposed takeover of BSkyB to go ahead.
Mr Cameron agreed that Mrs Brooks' resignation offer should have been accepted, and urged News Corp executives to "stop worrying about mergers and sort out the mess they have created".
