BBC Radio Leicester listeners have been calling into the station concerned that horse chestnut trees in the county have been shedding their leaves early.
The root of the problem is the grubs of a tiny species of moth feeding inside the leaves, causing them to shrivel and brown.
Anona Finch, a Curator of Zoology, told reporter Jim Harris the horse chestnut had far more dangerous threats to face.
