Comox man stabbed to death after concert

A 19-year-old man died after being stabbed during a fight that took place Saturday night, as concertgoers left the Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds in Courtenay, B.C.
Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds, Courtenay, B.C.Vanier Secondary (top) & the exhibition grounds Comox Valley RCMP said that as crowds dispersed from the Rhythm on the Rock all-ages concert at 11:30 p.m. PT, "an altercation ensued between several males near the entrance to Vanier Secondary School."
A 16-year-old boy was arrested "within minutes" of the stabbing, less than a kilometre away.
The 19-year-old man, who is from Comox, died from his injuries at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Police will recommend that the Crown lay a charge of first-degree murder against the boy, who will not be named because of laws protecting the identities of young offenders. The 16-year-old had no previous history of violence or criminal activities, police said.
Police have not released the name of the victim.
